Verne is the home of the "Verne Society" established in 1989. P. R. Sweeney is the current Mayor of Verne, Indiana and President of the Verne Society. Jim Osborne is Vice President, and Mark Hill is Secretary/Treasurer of the Society. Membership includes many locals such as Brad Case, Dennis Latta, Dan Siewers, and Kenny Laidle. as well as people from other states. Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels Tom Hoback and David Goodnow are also active members of the Society.
